There is no doubt that the last announcement MIX Alpha Xiaomi showed the future of smartphones. It turns out that the Chinese giant has one more surprise up its sleeve. This is indicated by the information found in the MIUI camera application. They talk about a new phone capable of recording video in 8K resolution at 30 frames per second.
After analyzing the APK of the new camera application in MIUI 11 beta, the editors of XDA-Developers found strings indicating support for a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels, more widely known as 8K, as well as for a fps ratio of 30. What's more, in the application files it was also found graphic proof that leaves no doubt what we are dealing with.
The only question is, which phone will manage it. If Xiaomi decides to do it at home (and everything points to it), he may be the first to do it. Although there is already a small group of smartphones recording in 8K, such as Nubia Red Magic 3, Asus ZenFone 6 and ROG Phone 2, but the fps is up to 24 there. It is admittedly a standard frame rate in cinema films and gives a sense of real "filminess" , but more fps are useful in other types of productions.
These phones have a Snapdragon 855 or 855 Plus chipset. It uses the Spectra 380 image processor with maximum 4K video quality at 60 fps. Only after pressing it you can embrace 8K at 15 fps (as in Red Magic 3) or 8K at 24 fps (as in ROG Phone 2 using its own profile in the FreeDCam application).
The only SoC systems supporting 8K in 30 fps are Samsung Exynos 9820 and 9825. This year's flagships – Galaxy S10 and Note10 – however, do not have camera sensors capable of recording in 8K. However, if Xiaomi implements such components at home, it will probably do so on a new device.
