Apple is not sacred and has proved it many times. The developer environment even has the term "sherlocked", which means a situation in which the giant decided to adapt the functionality of an external application in macOS and offer it to system users in principle for free. There were already several such situations, and this time it happened to the developers of the Astropad application. It allows you to connect your iPad with macOS and transform our tablet into a great alternative to a graphic tablet.
the newest version macOS Catalina introduces a new function Sidecarwhich, well, makes Astropad essentially stop being right – at least on the Apple system. The creators decided not to give up in this seemingly hopeless situation and although in their native environment they are practically burned, there are alternatives that are even more popular than macOS. I am talking about Windows 10, on which Astropad was not available until now.
The developers decided to redesign their program from scratch based on Rust, which allows operation on many platforms including macOS, iOS, Linux, Android and of course on Windows. Although the introduction of Sidebar to macOS was definitely bad news for Astrolab (the creator of Astropad), it finally turned out that Windows users will benefit. Graphic designers and all sorts of digital artists are not just attached to Apple equipment and services. When will all this be implemented and Astropad come to Windows 10? This is not yet known, but application developers have no other choice – cross-platform is the only way to survive.
