Last year of support for Office 2010. What's next?

About date termination of Office 2010 support it has been known for a long time, but it is worth remembering about it one year in advance. For Microsoft, this is an opportunity to summarize the changes that have occurred since the release of this version of the package, and to present possible alternatives. Office 2010 will cease to be supported on October 13, 2020. What choices do users have?

The way we work has changed. When we launched Office 2010, our goal was to help clients unlock their potential with best-in-class tools they could use to be more productive. Ten years later, the definition of productivity changed significantly. To achieve success today, companies must help employees work together from anywhere and in schedules that go beyond traditional office hours. In the meantime, dealing with increasingly sophisticated security threats has simply surpassed man's vigilance.

The list of changes that have taken place in Office over the last decade is so long that probably no one would be tempted to compile it single. Microsoft has only mentioned a few shoreline examples that, in its view, bring users to a higher level of productivity. These are: the XLOOKUP formula and functions of co-authorship and collaboration in Excel, Resume Assistant and Dictation in Word or Designer and modern ways of entering data (Windows Ink, voice, 3D) in PowerPoint. Where can you get it all? There is only one answer.

The end of Office 2010 support marks the end of an era – before the cloud revolution. Of course you may ask why an update to Office 2019 is not recommended. The exact answer can be found in the linked article. It is worth mentioning that Office 2019 was outdated at the time of release relative to Office 365, it will not receive new features in updates and there is no access to key services powered by the cloud.
