Since the start of work on the new Edge version based on Chromium, we have already found several changes at the interface level. According to the intentions of the creators, it should be both more modern, as well as more friendly and accessible. In recent months, Microsoft has worked closely on this project with the Google Chrome team, and today it presents a set of refreshed controls in the new Edge.
These controls will soon be available for both Microsoft Edge Insider and other Chromium based browsers.
These changes are to polish the controls as well as bring consistency at the level of experience and design with the other elements of the interface. Microsoft adds that it has worked with a team of Chrome designers to achieve a balance between their design languages (including Fluent Design System from Microsoft) to give the browser a modern look and provide a feeling of "being at home" for other Chromium browsers.
In addition to these changes, Microsoft announced better support for touch screens and accessibility fixes, including support for Windows high contrast mode without the need to add changes from site developers. The giant also mentions better keyboard support in all new controls.
